Vampire Breeds:

Common Vampires - Descended from the Old Ones who mixed their blood with humans. This line of vampires was mostly found in Europe, Russia , Asia, and India but countless migrated to the Western Hemisphere after its discovery. Common Vampires compromise 75% of the vampire population. They can be harmed by crosses and holy water. Common Vampires are unable to walk in sunlight without the aid of a mystical device or trinket, doing so would result in their death. These vampires can also be killed by beheading, fire, and a wooden stake through the heart. Upon their death this breed of vampires turns to dust.

Daywalkers - Descended from the Alpha Vampire who originated out of Africa . He in turn was created by the Demon known as Eve. They are referred to as Daywalkers as they have the ability to move about in the sun although it does cause some painful damage similar to an extremely bad sunburn for a human. Daywalkers are less common and for the most can only be found in small clusters in the U.S., Mexico, and Western Canada . They are fast, strong, agile, and have enhanced senses. They can be incapacitated by Dead Man's Blood and can only be killed by beheading or by The Colt. When they are killed they leave behind a corpse. These vampires make up about 15% of the vampire population.

North American Vampires - These vampires originated as the result of a powerful spell and are the youngest breed. They first known as the Originals, appeared in Virginia but a nomadic lifestyle had them travelling around the world and creating small pockets of vampire descendants. Similar to Common Vampires they cannot walk in the sunlight without magical intervention or they burst into flame and die. They can also be killed by beheading, fire, or a wooden stake to the heart. Similar to the Daywalkers they do not turn to ash but instead leave behind a corpse upon death. They compromise only 8% of vampires but are spread out around the globe.

Turok-Han - These vampires shared some traits with the common vampire: when killed by decapitation or the sun, they become dust just as common vampires do. However, their armored chest cavity was nearly impervious to stakes. Killing a Turok-Han with a stake to the heart is still possible, but it requires tremendous effort to penetrate their thick sternums. The Turok-Han were completely immune to crosses, and were only slightly affected by holy water. Their blood also was of a darker coloration, and they were completely unable to assume a human visage, always remaining in their demonic face. A Turok-Han vampire does not require an invite to enter a person's home. The Turok-Han is physically much stronger than a regular vampire, but also seemed to lack independence and intelligence. These were the rarest of vampires and have not been seen in thousands of years with only 2% of the population. During the fall of Sunnydale it was discovered that most Turok-Han were trapped in hell awaiting the opening of a Hellmouth.

Demon Breeds:

Hell Demons - These are malevolent spiritual entities created by Lucifer. Created from human souls with endless torture, they're extremely evil. The first-ever demon was Lilith, created by Lucifer. There are many ways of becoming a demon, from making a deal with a Crossroads Demon, to being a witch, and making a deal with another demon. Their true form appears like long, slender clouds of black smoke. When they possess humans, they enter through their mouths. Often possessed humans physically look exactly the same as they did before possession, but the only noticeable changes are the mentality of the possessed human. Often under possession the human begins speaking and acting like the demon would. Upon exorcism the human retains no memory of their time during possession (Unless they have been "awake" during possession, in which case the time of possession is a nightmare for them). Upon possession, the only noticeable change of the possessed human is their eyes, which range from deep black to yellow, to pale white and to red, depending on the type of demon possessing them. The possessed humans also gain the powers of whichever demon possesses them. Unlike angels, whose possession of a human vessel has to be with the vessel's consent, demons forcibly possess humans without any deal at all. Whenever they use their powers, they leave a trace of sulfur in the form of yellow dust. People suffering from stress, fear or panic can be vulnerable to demonic possession. Demons abhor the name of God (which in Latin is Dio or Deus). Their powers vary depending on what class of demon they are.

Earth Demons - Are demons that originated when the Old Ones ruled the earth. They do not have specific ties to Hell although most are quite evil. They vary greatly in size, shape, form and abilities.

Foreign Demons - These demons originate from other worlds or dimensions and have found their way to Earth. They also do not have any specific ties to Hell and vary in size, shape, form, abilities, and temperament.
